Hi there! I'm Ekta Kaul

YOUR CREATIVE MENTOR

AWARD WINNING ARTIST, INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED EDUCATOR

Hello, I’m Ekta Kaul—an independent artist, wife, and mum of two little ones. I grew up in India and now live in London, where I work from a studio nestled on the edge of ancient woods. My work focuses on creating narrative maps that explore themes of place, history, and belonging, using fiber and paint as my mediums.

Although I established my practice in 2008, it wasn’t until 2018—ten years later—that I was able to make a living as a full-time artist. Those years were filled with trial and error, teaching myself everything from scratch. It was often frustrating how little well-curated information existed to support emerging artists. Adding to that challenge were the demands of motherhood, adjusting to life in a new country, and working in a language that wasn’t my first.

Your journey doesn’t have to take the same winding road mine did. That’s why I’m passionate about helping women embrace their creativity and turn their art into a fulfilling livelihood.

MY STORY

Coming from a family of academics in India, where science and scholarship were the norm, I broke the mould when I chose to pursue a career in the creative arts. This decision led me thousands of miles from home to the UK, to puruse my Mastes in Textiles. Here, I began my creative journey from absolute scratch. Step by tiny step, I built a thriving artistic practice—one that combines my love of artmaking with my passion for empowering others.

Today, my works are exhibited and collected internationally, including by prominent public and private institutions such as: Museum of London, Crafts Council London,Liberty of London, Gunnersbury Museum, Tatter Blue Library (USA)

I’ve had the honor of speaking at the British Parliament, teaching at world-class institutions like the Victoria & Albert Museum and Kettle’s Yard, and receiving awards such as the 2021 Cockpit Arts Textile Prize. My work has been featured in Financial Times, Vogue, Selvedge, Embroidery Magazine, and more.

WHY LEARN FROM ME?

I know what it feels like to step out of one's comfort zone and walk one's own path. Starting without guidance or a roadmap, I spent years figuring everything out on my own. Looking back, I know how much easier and faster the journey could have been with the right information and support.

This membership is the resource I wish I’d had when I started.

It’s built on two pillars:

  1. Expert Guidance: I’ve distilled everything I’ve learned over the past two decades into this program—so you can skip the trial-and-error and focus on developing your art.
  2. Supportive Community: Creativity can feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. This membership brings you into a circle of like-minded creatives, cheering you on and sharing the journey.

Together, these elements transform the creative process from a slow, lonely slog into an inspiring and joyful ride.

LET'S BUILD YOUR CREATIVE FUTURE

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by where to begin or how to take your art to the next level, know that everything is possible. You only need to commit to chasing your dreams.

If I can do it, so can you—and I’d love to show you how.

Ekta x

If you are ready to invest in yourself and embrace your truest self, I would love to welcome you in!

Testimonials

When I first joined this group, I was so excited to be with other like-minded women, and to have the opportunity to be taught and guided by an artist I had followed on social media, and very much admired. I’ve always loved handwork, and would often do embroidery kits. It wasn’t until I discovered, through the monthly prompts and encouragement from Ekta and our SSC group, that I could actually consider myself as a creative person, and even an artist.

"I love that everything we have done together has given me a true sense of belonging to something with such a solid foundation."

Nancy Stewart

"One of the loveliest parts of my life right now is participating in Ekta Kaul's Stitch Circle. The Circle supports members who are exploring their creativity through stitches. Ekta, who is the loveliest of humans, shares information about design and color--it's like a mini art school class every time. She also teaches new embroidery stitches. It's low pressure, high result. I highly recommend this lovely journey!"

Beverly Army WiliiamsBeverly Army Wiliiams

"Being part of the Stitch Circle has been rewarding in so many ways - new ideas, new friends and space to be creative. I'm usually woking on projects to get them finished (always patterns and kits) but with Ekta's guidance and encouragement, taking time to explore and even struggle with ideas and how to bring them to life has been incredibly impactful. Just finished my first ever stitched project that I created - feels amazing!"

Laurel ThomsonLaurel Thomson

"I love being a part of our circle. This has become my time, and I end up so much more relaxed and inspired to look at the world around me. I have learnt to cherish the creative process and just love the outcome.. some good some not so good but the years are all on my wall and around me.. and even given as cherished gifts."
