A nourishing space for slow making, presence, and creative growth.
Inner Thread Circle is a nourishing space for those who love working with cloth and thread and are seeking a slower, more thoughtful way of making.
It is my membership program centring joy through continuity, community and creativity - a place to keep showing up to your practice with care, curiosity, and intention.
Through a year of hand embroidery practices rooted in slowness, presence, and deep attention, Inner Thread Circle weaves together masterclasses with me, Ekta Kaul. Self expression and skill is nurtured here and it sits alongside the poetry of stitch, the written word, shared reading, reflection, and conversation — recognising that making is as much about meaning and listening as it is about technique.
This is a space for those who want to stay close to their materials, to ideas, and to one another — and to allow their creative voice to unfold gradually, supported by rhythm, community, and thoughtful guidance.
Inner Thread Circle is a thoughtfully held membership space that unfolds over the course of the year, offering rhythm, continuity, and companionship for your creative practice. At its heart, the Circle is about showing up regularly, but gently — returning to stitch not as a task to complete, but as a way of thinking, sense making, and being with your work.
We meet twice a month on Wednesdays, following an intentional rhythm that balances making, reflection, and spaciousness.
The first Wednesday of the month is a Themed Stitch Masterclass — focused on technique, process, and unhurried time at the cloth. These sessions are grounded in guided, hands-on making, with demonstrations and prompts that support skill-building while leaving room for personal exploration. Masterclasses are led by me, and occasionally by guest artists whose practices I admire, offering different perspectives and ways of working with cloth and thread.
The third Wednesday is our Book Club — a slower gathering shaped by reading, listening, reflection, and shared presence. Here, stitch sits alongside the written word and conversation, allowing ideas, influences, and creative lineages to come into view.
Between live gatherings, the Circle is supported by a growing library of recorded sessions, stitch explorations, and resources you can return to in your own time. There is no pressure to keep up; everything is designed to be met at your own pace. We also have a private group where members can share work, ideas, and reflections if they wish.
Inner Thread Circle is less about consuming content and more about cultivating a relationship — with your materials, your ideas, and a community of others who value slowness, attention, and care.
Open to all levels of experience.
Over time, members find they feel more at ease with their making — less rushed or sporadic, and more held by a gentle rhythm. Trust in their own pace and instincts deepens. Stitch becomes not just something to do, but a way of thinking, noticing, and responding.
Confidence grows quietly through repetition, reflection, and shared presence. Skills deepen. For many, the discomfort around calling themselves an artist begins to soften and fall away — as owning their creativity comes to feel like the most natural thing in the world.
A sense of wellbeing often begins to ripple outward, as making becomes more integrated into daily life — less separate from it. The transformation here is slow but enduring, supported by rhythm, care, and community. All it asks of you is to show up.

Inner Thread Circle will enable you to find and trust your creative voice, connect with a global community of supportive peers and to cultivate a consistent practice so you can fill your cup with joy and fulfilment.
YOUR CREATIVE MENTOR
AWARD WINNING ARTIST, INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED EDUCATOR
Hello, I’m Ekta Kaul — an artist, author, educator, and mum of two.
I grew up in India and have lived in London for the past fifteen years, where I work from a studio nestled on the edge of ancient woods on the fringes of the city. My work centres on creating narrative maps that explore themes of place, history, and belonging, using fibre and paint as my primary mediums.
Artmaking has been a steadying force in my life — the thread that has kept me tethered to myself through the experience of leaving my homeland, making a new home, navigating loss, and becoming a parent. Through this thread, I’ve been connected to so many thoughtful, generous people like you, across geographies, cultures, and lived experiences.
I believe the inner thread of creativity runs through all of us, and I’d love to invite you to weave something meaningful together.
MY STORY
I come from a family of academics in India, where science and scholarship shaped the world around me. Choosing a creative path meant stepping away from what was familiar — and eventually travelling thousands of miles to the UK to pursue my Master’s in Textiles.
I began my creative practice from scratch. Slowly, and often tentatively, I built a body of work rooted in patience, inquiry, and care — bringing together my love of making with a deep commitment to sharing knowledge and supporting others on their creative journeys.
Today, my work is exhibited and held in public and private collections internationally, including the Museum of London, the Crafts Council, Liberty of London, Gunnersbury Museum, Morgan Stanley, and the Tatter Blue Library (USA).
I’ve had the privilege of teaching at institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum and Kettle’s Yard, speaking at the British Parliament, and receiving awards including the 2021 Cockpit Arts Textile Prize. My work has been featured in publications including the Financial Times, Vogue, Selvedge, and Embroidery Magazine.
WHY LEARN FROM ME?
I know what it feels like to step away from the expected path and figure things out without a clear roadmap. I spent many years learning through trial and error — often alone — and I understand how much easier that journey can feel with the right guidance and community.
Inner Thread Circle is the space I wish I’d had when I was starting out.
It brings together two things I believe are essential to a sustainable creative practice:
Thoughtful guidance — shaped by years of making, teaching, and reflection — and
A supportive community — where creativity is shared, witnessed, and encouraged.
Together, these offer a way of working that feels less isolating, more connected, and deeply nourishing — allowing creativity to become an integrated part of life, rather than something squeezed in at the edges.

When I first joined this group, I was so excited to be with other like-minded women, and to have the opportunity to be taught and guided by an artist I had followed on social media, and very much admired. I’ve always loved handwork, and would often do embroidery kits. It wasn’t until I discovered, through the monthly prompts and encouragement from Ekta and our SSC group, that I could actually consider myself as a creative person, and even an artist.
"I love that everything we have done together has given me a true sense of belonging to something with such a solid foundation."
"One of the loveliest parts of my life right now is participating in Ekta Kaul's Stitch Circle. The Circle supports members who are exploring their creativity through stitches. Ekta, who is the loveliest of humans, shares information about design and color--it's like a mini art school class every time. She also teaches new embroidery stitches. It's low pressure, high result. I highly recommend this lovely journey!"
Beverly Army Wiliiams"Being part of the Stitch Circle has been rewarding in so many ways - new ideas, new friends and space to be creative. I'm usually woking on projects to get them finished (always patterns and kits) but with Ekta's guidance and encouragement, taking time to explore and even struggle with ideas and how to bring them to life has been incredibly impactful. Just finished my first ever stitched project that I created - feels amazing!"
Laurel Thomson"I love being a part of our circle. This has become my time, and I end up so much more relaxed and inspired to look at the world around me. I have learnt to cherish the creative process and just love the outcome.. some good some not so good but the years are all on my wall and around me.. and even given as cherished gifts."
